Otaku South EXTRA LARGE (a giveaway!)
Otaku South is undoubtedly one of the stars of the Nashville pop-up scene. I’ve been hearing raves about Sarah Gavigan’s roaming ramen shop from friends for several months now, and after a mention in Food & Wine magazine, then a special appearance at Catbird Seat, I’ve certainly been feeling like I’m missing out by not having attended one myself.
So I was excited to hear about this weekend’s Otaku South on steroids – Otaku South EXTRA LARGE!
Along with Sarah’s local team, there will be special guest chefs from around the country serving up their own distinctive styles of ramen as well as assorted yakitori skewers. Choices, choices – how will I ever decide?!

Now for some even more exciting news- Sarah is letting me give away tickets to TWO of my lucky readers! Both of the winners will get a set of 2 food tickets to be used at the event.

My best ramen experience was eating at my host family’s ramen shop while studying abroad in Suwa-shi Japan during the summer of 2008. I haven’t been able to eat packaged ramen since!

I have attended a few Otaku South events and the one at Catbird Sear was pretty awesome. Also, I was recently in Austin and went to Paul Qui’s East Side Kings and had his Squid Ink Curry ramen and his beer, bacon, corn, miso ramen. Those were definitely my two best ramen experiences.

i think my otaku south experience at 12 south taproom was definitely the best! i’m so eager to try some again. other than that, i’ve only had maruchan and we all know that doesn’t really cut it.
and i like otaku south on facebook! thanks!
Love Ramen but drawing a blank on a favorite experience. I bet this would be at the top of my list.
I ate my fair share of nasty 10 cent ramen in college. But, by far, the best I’ve ever had was at Urban Belly in Chicago. We don’t make a trip to Chicago without going there to eat!

Hmmm…I can only think of one time that I had real ramen (i.e. not top ramen) and that was in NYC about 10 years ago. It’s time to change that!
I like Otaku South on facebook, too.
Not much experience, so I’d love to try it at this event!
Otaku South @ Silo for sure!
Haven’t had any kick-ass ramen, so hoping this event will fix that…

I went to Otaku at Silo. It was great.
I already like Otaku on Facebook.
Best Ramen I’ve had was Wagamama in London.
I would love to try a big bowl of Otaku South’s Ramen!
When I lived in LA I used to head to a Mitsuwa Market to do my grocery shopping but not before hitting the Santouka Ramen outpost that’s inside. My best EVER experience had to be the first time going back to visit LA after moving away, making a beeline for Mitsuwa, and sitting down for a large bowl of Santouka’s shio chashu ramen. The flavor was no different than any other time I had been there but it what made it so great that time was the feeling of finally satisfying that craving after being away for so long. Mmm…
Oh, and I “liked” Otaku South on Facebook. :)
I’ve never had real ramen. I’d love to try it!
Best Raman I’ve ever had was in a mall food court in Osaka Japan! Another was at the Night Market in Tawain.
