Gifts for the Wine Lover

Today I’m sharing a few gift ideas for the wine lover in your life, and the first is an item I’d love to claim as my own. When I saw this tote in Food & Wine magazine last year, I immediately tore out the page so I would remember to look it up. I’m always fumbling around trying to find a good way to carry bottles of wine to friends’ houses, so this is the perfect solution–practical and cute to boot! Turns out they have several other cute bags too, including the new-for-the-holidays hooch bag and champagne bag that already have gift tags attached. Not only are they reasonably priced, but they are also 100% made in the USA! Visit HeroBags.com to peruse the whole collection.
Next is an item that I purchased for myself over a year ago and now wonder how I ever drank red wine without it. Over the course of time, I’ve conducted many blind taste tests with friends, and all agree that this little gadget definitely improves the quality of a newly opened bottle of wine. No need for long decanting any more, this thing offers immediate results! Now that many of my friends have experienced it for themselves, they have also become proud owners. The Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator is the perfect stocking stuffer for any serious (or even semi-serious or not-so-serious) red wine drinker! Just last week my fellow food blogger Kira added it to her own holiday wish list after experiencing the Vinturi while wine tasting in Sonoma. I’m telling you, once you’ve used it, you won’t be able to imagine your life without it!

And last but certainly not least – what better present for a wine enthusiast than wine itself? For those you’ll be seeing during the holidays, it’s easy to drop into your favorite local wine shop and pick up a few bottles to wrap up and put under the tree, but it’s likely that some of you also have long distance relatives, friends and business associates you won’t have the opportunity to celebrate with in person. That’s where MyWinesDirect.com comes in. They are a great source for all of your wine shipping needs, and through the holidays they’re allowing me to offer you 10% off all wine gifts or gourmet wine gift baskets from their online store! Wines with chocolate, wines with cheese, wines with cookies, even wines with spa products- they’ve got it all! So head over there now to find the perfect package and enter the code SMILE when checking out to get your discount. Happy Holidays~
these are great gift ideas!! maybe i’ll buy one of these for vivek!!
Yes, Zarna! PLEASE DO!!
haha- you guys are funny! I hope someone in my family reads this and buys me that bag ;-)
I don’t know if the cheapo wine I buy is worthy of a aerator but I sure do want one!
actually it works wonders for cheapo wine! believe me, I know from experience ;-)
great list!!
those aerators really open up the bottle – make it taste so much better. especially those first few sips.
Ha…wine, indeed, is the perfect gift for the wine fan, isn’t it? Well, almost. That aerator looks quite awesome, I may have to pick one of those up. That would perfectly accompany a bottle of something special, like – oh, I don’t know – our 2006 Napa Valley Cab (a Wine Spectator pick for 2010 releases, currently only available on our website but going fast!). Heh. But yes, wine baskets are great over the holidays, either bought from a winery or homemade (I once got a homemade wine basket with pita chips and DVDs!).
No mention of Nashville’s own, KnobStoppers?
Do you people have a facebook fan page? I looked for one on twitter but could not discover one, I would really like to become a fan!
