Oh You Silly Goose!
For months I’ve been reading reports of the fantastic food coming out of the kitchen at The Silly Goose in East Nashville, so last week I finally made my way over the river to the tiny little dining spot and discovered for myself that the rumors were true.
My dining companion, Marcia (the fabulous photographer who shot our engagement and wedding photos) went with a friend’s suggestion and ordered The Bird. When the huge sandwich of grilled chicken breast, sun-dried tomato, avocado, bacon, and peppered goat cheese on flax seed bread arrived at the table, she immediately offered to share. It goes without saying–I didn’t say no.
Delicious!! I’m not typically a big sandwich eater, but I will definitely be trying out some of their other sandwiches in the future and if they are anything like The Bird, I might be a sandwich convert.
I couldn’t stand the thought of leaving there without trying one of their house made ice creams I’d heard so much about. As the chef explained, they have different flavors available every day, and he tries to have at least one “normal” flavor along with the “weird” ones. However, this particular day they were all “weird” (the chef’s words, not mine!). But hey, I prefer weird! My choice? Coconut Red Curry. A little bit citrusy with a hint of spice, followed by some heat in the throat, it was one of the most delightful desserts I’ve had in a long time.
Smitten I tell you.
I may say I love a lot of things, but I really love The Silly Goose! From their commitment to sustainable, local foods, to the interesting flavor combinations and playfulness of the menu, they have created a true neighborhood gem. I’m just sad it isn’t in MY neighborhood!

One of my coworkers is from East Nashville, and raves about this place. YUM!
I LOVE this place. Deceptively good!
even if you dont like sandwiches, you should split the lyle's surprise with a friend next time. it is probably the most flavorful sandwich ive ever eaten.
Yes, it was delicious! And the pics turned out great!! Thanks again sweetie!
this looks SOOOO tasty–i love me some new hotspots here in Nash. i will definitely be venturing over to try this out!
Alexis- thanks for the tip. I love focaccia, so I'm sure I would love the Lyle's Surprise! I'm actually going over to E Nash tomorrow night for an event, so I'm going to drop in Silly Goose and get takeout for dinner. Can't wait for more yumminess :-)
Bon Voyage to China! Where are you heading? What are you doing there? Please report back on the food you eat. I can't wait to see and read about your trip! I am sure you know that dim sum is really only a Hong Kong thing, not a north, west or east China thing. Shanghai and other areas do not have a history of dim sum.
Hey Lannae- I'm leaving on the 16th and will come back the 29th. I'll be in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Ningbo, and Wenzhou. I'll be working but am sure I'll find the time to fit in some foodie adventures :-)

The food is great, but the service is AWFUL!! The wait staff is very lazy and arrogant. They need to remember they are “the help” and get off of themselves. If it weren’t for the food being good, I would say F-U to Silly Goose!
Hi all! Restaurants in Texas are very well known for their hospitality and very tasty colorful food! But, unfortunately, some people do not have the opportunity to visit them! To fix this situation, everyone can use the Favor Delivery app, and the company will deliver food from the required restaurant. Their delivery process is fast, but if someone has problems with this, the user does not need to look for a favor delivery phone number the client can report any problem in the app, and it will be quickly resolved.
