The best prize I won hasn’t actually been received yet but I was notified last night that I won a cooking class at whole foods with a Nashville Predator. The best prize I’ve ever won was VIP tickets to an Anthony Bourdain-Eric Ripert “Foodie Experience” (write-up here: http://www.closetobliss.com/?p=559)! The tickets were a giveaway by a now-defunct local blogger who couldn’t make it to the show, and to win, one simply had to email an entry. Maybe not the *best* prize, but my *favorite* prize that I won was for my dad & stepmom shortly after they got married. I won a radio contest for front row Fleetwood Mac tickets (I actually won while working at a chocolate store, so I surprised them with some chocolate too!) – since they didn’t take a honeymoon, it was at least a night out for them!

The best prize I ever won was when I was a senior in college, newly engaged and my sister and I attended a bridal show. I won the grand prize of a $250 gift certificate to a local jewelry store. Of course I was a broke college student planning a wedding and this allowed me to buy my husband his wedding band.

Being a foodie, you will love this. The best prize I’ve ever won was at the age of 8, I won the grand prize in the Kraft Singles Outrageous Sandwich contest for my “Cool Dude” peanut brittle croissant sandwich using Kraft Singles cheese. I got to be on TV and talk about “kids loving peanut butter, so they must love peanut brittle.” I got to be on a cooking show on TV, and my family has threatened to show the video at my rehearsal dinner!

The best thing I ever won was from a Got Milk? contest. I voted which ad I liked best for Lauren Conrad and was automatically entered to win a swag bag. I won tons of Chocolate Milk coupons, a white leather Nine West clutch, a white bejeweled headband, a cold cuff, and a signed copy of Lauren Conrad’s second novel in the L.A. Candy series. The best prize I have ever won was from a local furniture store. I entered their radio giveaway and won a new living room set complete with sofa, lounge chair, coffee/end tables and LCD TV. The best prize I won was a family trip to Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure over the summer (I went last June). I was so ecstatic to relive my childhood memories again, since the last time I went was over a decade ago. My parents said I was crazy for running throughout the park as a college student, lining up for the next ride. We were lucky too, we didn’t have to wait too long for most of the rides!

It was a round trip ticket on American Airlines anywhere in then U.S. I won it at a Koman Race for the Cure event in Knoxville. Guess where I went. You got it, NYC!!

Hmm… probably about 20 years ago when I was living in Chicago. Won the GRAND PRIZE – the creme de la creme from a local radio station! Had the glam pop rock band Red Kross perform a two hour concert right smack in the middle of my living room in my Wrigleyville apartment in Chicago. I invited 50 of my friends, packed my apartment from floor to ceiling with roadies, stylists, the crew – including n MTV VJ and had the band play a two hour set. We busted a few windows since it was soooo loud in there, but was famous for a day and became a super fan for life!

Back in the olden days my roommate and I entered a number of raffles at the Columbus Day festival at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in North Beach in San Francisco. The first year we won a number of the raffles and received gift certificates to restaurants all over the city. We were in hog heaven. The next year we contributed by buying raffle tickets but our hearts weren’t really in the game. We figured that we had reaped such great rewards the previous year that there was no way we’d win again. When the lady called to tell us we’d won a bunch of the gift certificates (again!) she was actually laughing at our luck. She couldn’t believe we’d cleaned them out again.
