The Bloomy Rind- A Giveaway!
How many of you have had the pleasure of eating one of the many marvelous cheeses from The Bloomy Rind this year? I’m currently noshing on some Browning Gold myself and looking forward to my next hunk of Barely Buzzed. Cheese, glorious cheese.
If you haven’t met Kathleen and sampled some of her wares, you’re really missing out. Why, the Nashville Scene writers even proclaimed The Bloomy Rind the “Best News for Cheese Lovers” in this year’s “Best of” issue.
As the year rolls to a close, Kathleen thought it’d be nice to allow one of my lovely local readers to sample a wide variety of her goods. Well, not just sample really…downright devour. So you know what that means? It’s giveaway time!
The prize? A cheese plate, built to your taste! Ya know, custom like. Start by choosing three or four of your favorite cheeses, then add in some fabulous accompaniments, all of which will be served up on a super cool contemporary CB2 platter. (total $60 value)
Perhaps you’d like a Southern Cheese themed plate that includes Sequatchie Cove Cumberland, a semi-soft charmer from the Chattanooga area; Chapel Hill Creamery Carolina Moon, a Camembert-style cheese at it’s buttery best; and Blackberry Farm Blue, a well-balanced blue with a lovely fudgelike texture.
Or maybe you prefer something a little stinkier like Rogue Creamery’s Echo Mountain Blue, a robust, earthy blue made from cow’s and goat’s milk for a little extra oomph. Or you could go with the cheesemonger’s choice, the Cobb Hill Cheese’s Ascutney Mountain, which could easily be the love child of an aged gouda and an aged cheddar – complete with those little crystals we adore so much.
Well, you get the idea. Kathleen will listen to what you love and create a dreamy cheese plate just for you!

There are so many to choose from! I’d love to try out the Dunbarton Blue, Aggiano Parm, Cabot Cheddar and Unitah Jack! The accompaniments sound delicious too….especially the olive mix and chocolate. I’ve been dying to try Olive and Sinclair chocolate.
My ultimate cheese plate would include a soft cheese like brie or camembert and definitely some goat cheese. Some gouda. And I’d love to try the barely buzzed from Bloomy Rind and have the sea salt honey cheese again I tried once.
I tweeted out the giveaway! http://twitter.com/#!/sallaboutme/status/20122258957672448
herbed goat cheese, gouda, and cheddar- yum!
And thanks for the heads up on Facebook, I like Bloomy Rind now!
Mmm, cheese! I’d love to leave it up to Kathleen – see what she comes up with. :) I know whatever she does it’ll be fantastic!
I love soft cheeses, so my ultimate cheese plate would have to include brie and some kind of goat cheese. I love gouda too. On gluten-free crackers, they’d make a fantastic NYE plate!
Tweeted it too!

Yes, I really want this cheese!
Liked it on fb too! Enjoy your New Years, Beth!
My ultimate cheese plate would have delicious earthy, nutty cheeses like gruyere and asiago. And perhaps some sweet chutney (apricot or caramelized onion) to balance out the taste!
OMG that Southern Cheese themed plate sounds amazing. Yum!
wow, is this a loaded question or what! let’s see. at twelve o’clock, we’d start with some purple haze goat cheese to get things rollin’ on a smooth start. then at three we’d have a sharp and intense roquefort, to keep ya on yer toes. then at six, i’m going with cabot clothbound cheddar to balance things out in a sharp and pleasant kind of way. at 9, i’d go for a silky fresh mozzarella, and then back to twelve i’d be sure to go around the cheese-plate-clock again, but would certainly take a sip of pinot noir and another sip of champagne, for good measure. and maybe some bites of crusty bread, too.
oh, and i tweeted and liked the bloomy rind on facebook!
oh wait – i have no way of picking this thing up. oops? :)
well, darn it! And you were so enthusiastic about it too!! why not just hop on a plane bound for Nashville? ;-)
Definitely Blackberry Farms blue, and I would love a very sharp cheese like manchego, and perhaps a creamy one. How can you go wrong with cheese?
Retweeted and already follow on Twitter
I’d probably want some swiss, asiago, a little blue cheese and maybe some gouda. That Basque 3 Olive Mix sounds great so throw that on my cheese plate too!
Tweeted about your blog & giveaway already & just liked The Bloomy Rind on FB.
Thanks Beth!

How fun is this!
Definitely blue cheese, maybe something creamy too. I’d love to try some cheeses I’ve never had before; that would be fun!
I also now like you on Facebook! Thought I already did, so glad I checked! :)
And I tweeted your message from @KimNewsom.
goat cheese, feta, brie – I love cheese
Any and every cheese! Except blue cheese. It’s the only cheese I don’t like. But gouda and brie are at the top of my list.
My cheese plate would definitely include my favorite: Dunbarton; my son’s favorite: barely buzzed; my wife’s favorite: Echo Mtn Blue; and an aged gouda for my daughter. I am a fan on FB!
I would enjoy the Blackberry Farms blue, gouda, manchago, there was one that I tried from Kathleen made in TN that I can’t recall the name, an aged cheddar and whatever else Kathleen recommends! She is the best.
Tweet! http://twitter.com/#!/lesleyest/status/20139733426372608
Mmm, Cheese! I retweeted your post (@cf75) and dream of a plate that shows off Humboldt Fog Goat cheese, Manchego, a triple cream and goat gouda. Or a sharp cheddar. So hard to choose. Life is better with cheese. Happy New Year!
I just liked Bloomy Rind on FB, too!
I love most all cheeses. The stinkier the better! I think what would be most fun about winning a Bloomy Rind cheese plate is learning about and enjoying new cheeses!
Kathleen has some fabulous cheeses! What a great giveaway! Havarti and gouda would definitely make my cheese plate. Although there’s not a cheese I would turn down. Yum!
I tweeted!

I never met a cheese I didn’t like and haven’t had a chance to make it on Kathleen’s market days. I think my dream cheese plate would be made up of small production cheeses I’m not likely to find at the grocery…a mix of cow, goat, and sheep’s milk cheeses…some stinky, some creamy. I’m completely open to whatever!!!
Also, I have “Liked” the Bloomy Rind on Facebook for awhile now!
Mine would definitely have some delightfully stinky blue cheeses on it!
We’ve never tried a cheese from Bloomy Rind that we didn’t like, so it’s hard to choose a dream plate, any plate would be a dream plate! If I had to narrow it down to our favorites though, I would have to include the Blackberry Farm Blue for my husband, the Carolina Moon or O’Banon for myself and either the Seahive or the Butter Bound for the nine year old.
Also, already a fan on Facebook!
i’d love something fresh like the Blackberry Farm Brebis. I am addicted to the Cobb Hill Ascutney Mt. I’d eat anything blue, stinky, or triple creme. I’d eat anything from the Utah creamery where Barely Buzzed comes from – fantastic cheese.
I’m a big fan of Kathleen’s on FB and am off to tweet right now.
Yum! Pick me! I love cheese – all cheese. I’d probably go with a combination of some sharp, aged goodies and some buttery, mellow cheese.
And I like them on Facebook.
Plus, I’ll need lots of dairy to nourish this new baby. :) Pick me!
Hope motherhood is treating you well Amanda! Congratulations :-)
Already a fan (thanks to a Beth Eats-recommended wine and cheese tasting at Tayst), and just tweeted from @jessyly.
I LOVE cheese but I have to be honest I’m not that educated on all the different kinds other than the norm, so I would love to get different kinds that I have never had. My favorites are probably feta and blue cheese.
Just tweeted :)
Just went to the facebook page and I like Bloomy Rind.
I love Blue Cheese. I follow the bloomy rind on facebook and love her choices of cheeses.
When my best friend and I did a girl’s weekend in Chicago a couple of summers ago, we found a great little wine bar with flights of everything; including cheese. We both fell in love with an aged gouda that I have since forgotten the name of but dream of finding again. That’s what I would want on my ultimate cheese plate.
