Nashville Food and Drink Happenings – July 2017
Fireworks at TailGate Brewery
Monday, July 3rd, 2017
3 pm – ?
Fireworks start at 9 pm
TailGate Brewery
7300 Charlotte Pike
Nashville, TN 37209
Cost: FREE
I’ve always thought Independence Day should be observed for two full days when it falls in the middle of the week. I mean, if you want to stay up late partying/watching the fireworks on the 4th, then it’s a struggle to pull yourself out of bed and head into the office on the 5th.
Lucky for us, TailGate Brewery had the genius idea of putting on a fullscale professional fireworks show the night before the 4th of July so then we can rest and recuperate on the 4th!
TailGate is family friendly all the time, so kids and adults alike are welcome. There will be live music starting at 6 pm, and pizza, beer, and soft drinks for sale on site the entire evening. Be sure to bring blankets or chairs so you’ll be comfy viewing the fireworks! For more information, visit the event page on Facebook.

Goo Goo Summer Chef Series
Friday, July 14th, 2017 – September 30th, 2017
Goo Goo Shop
116 3rd Ave S
Nashville, TN 37201
It’s back! We’ll be kicking off our annual Summer Chef Series at the Goo Goo Shop on July 14th, and I am eagerly anticipating all of the amazing creations that are to come. For the third year, I got to choose some of my favorite chefs for this project, and I am super excited about the line up this time around. Check it out:
Bryan Lee Weaver, Butcher & Bee
Crystal De Luna-Bogan, Grilled Cheeserie
Carey Bringle, Peg Leg Porker
Tony Galzin, Nicky’s Coal Fired
Levon Wallace, Gray & Dudley
As in years past, each chef’s Goo Goo will stay on the menu at the Goo Goo Shop for at least two weeks. If it’s super popular, then we’ll keep it around for longer. Every two weeks a new chef Premium will be introduced, and you can find out who we’re featuring by following our Instagram, Twitter, or checking the News section of our website.
The series will run through the end of September, and just in case you don’t have a chance to come downtown to try them all along the way, we’ll have all of the flavors at Music City Food + Wine Festival on September 15th and 16th.

Von Elrod’s Pop Up at NFM Night Market
Friday, July 21st, 2017
5-9 pm
Nashville Farmers Market
900 Rosa L Parks Blvd
Nashville, TN 37208
With all of the new restaurant opening announcements lately, I haven’t been able to keep up here on the blog. Forgive me for that, but just know that when I find that I really enjoy a new place, I’ll definitely let you know. Recently I had a chance to sample some sausages from Von Elrod’s and I have a feeling you’ll be hearing much more about this new restaurant from me once it opens. The sausages I’ve tried are DELICIOUS.
While construction is underway on their beer garden, Jason Brumm, the CSO (chief sausage officer) of Von Elrod’s, wants to feed us, so he’s popping up at Nashville Farmer’s Market later this month. I highly suggest you plan on going to the upcoming NFM Night Market and give this a try for dinner!
