Nudo Olive Oil: Gift Idea and Giveaway!
“Nudo is an olive grove. And part of it can be yours” ~ from Nudo’s Facebook page
Okay, before I explain that line, let me first apologize to you.
I’m sorry that I didn’t write this blog post in November. Back in October, I was contacted about sampling olive oils from Nudo Italia, an artisanal Italian olive oil company. I got the samples. I loved them. I had good intentions of writing a ‘suggested gift idea’-type blog post that would have been perfect for Christmas.
But alas, here we are. It’s February and I’m just now getting around to writing this post. Shame on me because I really, really love this olive oil and the story behind it. (if you liked Under the Tuscan Sun, you’re going to love this story, so be sure to click through and read!)
Now on to the explanation of that intro line: “part of it can be yours”.
In addition to the fact that the olive oil is delicious, the packaging is super cute, and the pricing is really reasonable on all of their products, they also have an ADOPTION PROGRAM! And it’s not like getting a star named after you — you actually get olive oil from the tree! (Those stars don’t come with magic star dust do they?)
There are a few different options starting at $49/quarterly (if you purchase for yourself) or $69 if you give it as a gift (this option includes an adoption gift pack). Check out the Adopt section on their website for full details.
How cool is this? Seriously, I would be ecstatic if I got this as a gift —hint hint.
I suppose I shouldn’t be kicking myself too hard over missing the Christmas gift giving season because truly, we’ve still got plenty of occasions on the horizon: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, your sister/aunt/cousin/friend’s birthday, anniversaries…
And while I think the Adoption package makes a really unique gift, I wouldn’t want you to overlook all of the other fabulous gift options in the Nudo online shop. The item I was able to sample was the Nudo Divine Duo, and both the olive oils in this set are wonderful.
And guess what? The nice folks at Nudo would like for one of you to experience the Divine Duo as well!

I give a lot of gifts from my travels around the world, so some of the unique things I’ve given are Christmas ornaments from Rothenburg, Germany, chocolate from Bruges, Belgium, and other specialty items.

I was once given a memory foam pillow… best gift ever!
When I was 12 my dad bought me a machete because I complained about all the girly presents I got every year – definitely the most unique present I’ve ever received :)
The best gift was when I got back from a wonderful but exhausting (and somewhat dangerous: I went there all on my own) trip to India at the age of twenty, my parents had painted my room and made shelves for all my books.
All this they had done for me, because they love me …
Ok, Jess (comment #10) wins.
My step grandfather gives really unique gifts. Among this year’s is sunblock (SPF 30), a blinking light to put on my dog for night walks, a Gatorade energy gel thing, and an issue of National Geographic. :)
Hmm. We go for a trip every year instead of exchanging Christmas gifts.
this old old B fantasy movie called the Barbarian Brothers. lol. my siblings and I watched it as kids and and had an old copy recorded off the TV till my dad found it as a used video in a rental store.
ps .. I’ve heard of Nudo, and have wanted to adopt part of the grove just hadn done it. I think my mother would love it as a gift. I sense mothers day is taken care of. :)
I’m loving all these comments with hysterically awesome + unique gifts! I’ll have to share a meaningful unique one – for our ‘paper’ anniversary, Jeremy gave me a print of the night sky on the night were were married. The program partners with various observatories located around the country, and one just happened to be in Asheville, which is where we married!

For this past Christmas, my bf was given this really nice Sherpa throw. I immediately stole it from him, and I just LOVE it! It’s so soft and silky, I put it on my bed and use it every nite!

A trip to Napa Valley for my birthday was the best!
A trampoline :)
A patio set at my bridal shower. But I was living in an apartment without a deck (and had no plans to move at all). It was sweet but not very useful. :)
Not sure if it is particularly unique but when I was in college I got an easy bake oven because for years I had complained about how I never got the easy bake oven I was dying to have as a child.
Oh and I already follow you on facebook
I just now ‘liked’ you on Facebook!
I think the most unique gift I’ve ever received was the year that my husband hung some pieces of costume jewelry on the Christmas tree, for me, instead of wrapping them in boxes. It was such a surprise when I spotted the first one!
I’d have to say the year my hubs bought me scissors. Yes, scissors. I was shocked. I thought he was crazy. I thought he had lost his mind thinking I’d want scissors as a gift. Later, after giving him zero credit, I found out these scissors are the absolute best in the world! I’ve now had them for over 5 years and they are still incredible! Scissors as a gift may not always be the right choice, but this worked out for the best!

My husband bought me a chain saw for Christmas one year, I thought that was somewhat unusual!!
I think the most unique gifts I have received are all the Christmas ornaments my mom has given us over the years, now my tree is full!

I just tweeted too
Unique gift? That’s a tough one, but I will say that my husband is both really great and really terrible at gift-giving. Luckily, this past Christmas, he did well. I’ll have to show you my phone case that says, “I’m kind of a big dill.” :)
