Nuvo Burrito
My hairstylist over in East Nashville turned me on to Nuvo Burrito about a year ago, and since then, it has become a favorite of ours when we just need to grab a quick bite to eat. With delicious, clever fillings, their burritos and quesadillas (“Ques-Ideas”) are worth me driving clear across town for.
An authentic Mexican joint this is not, so don’t come here expecting that. Instead, come here if you’re in the mood for a tasting adventure. Ingredients like sweet potatoes, pineapple, cranberries, cumin corn relish and bacon can be seen throughout the innovative menu. Although I’ve sampled several of their offerings and enjoyed them all, I must admit that there are a handful that I can’t seem to resist ordering again and again.
My most beloved, the 90210 Ques-Idea pictured above, has chicken, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, goat cheese, roasted red pepper, and cilantro pesto. Then there is the Kupaianaha (which I’ve never once been able to pronounce correctly), filled with pork, ham, pineapple, jalapeño, tomato sauce, and mozzarella. If you like Hawaiian pizza, I have a feeling you’ll like this.
The Berkeley: Vegetarian Burrito with Artichoke Hearts, Sprouts, Black Beans, Monterey Jack, Cilantro Pesto, Spinach, Cumin-Corn Relish, Rice, Spinach Tortilla
Ranking high on my burrito scale is the Gulf Coaster, stuffed full of seasoned shrimp, beans, rice, cilantro pesto, Monterey Jack cheese, caramelized onions, and bits of bacon. It’s probably worth mentioning that the portions are LARGE. Typically I can only eat about half my burrito or quesadilla in one sitting, but you’ll be happy to know that they are just as delicious after reheating in the oven later.
If you haven’t dropped into Nuvo Burrito before, give it a try some time soon. Actually, if you can make it over there next Monday, May 9th, you’ll be helping out your community a little too, because 20% of their sales will be donated to the East Nashville Farmer’s Market!

I adore this place! That’s hilarous that you live in the area I work and do your hair in the area I live!
Thanks so much for informing of the ENFM, I had no idea. I’ve been waiting to go to the one at Sevier park, but now I can support my neighbors too.
Yes, you definitely have to check out ENFM! My friend Kathleen of The Bloomy Rind will be there with her yummy cheeses. Be sure to introduce yourself and tell her you know me :-)
YUM! Always have been wanting to try it! Both sound amazing.
They also sell booze. Score!
Ah yes! Girl, you are on today….I should have mentioned that. I always get take-out so I sometimes forget that little perk ;-)
I like Nuvo burrito. Sadly, it’s next to Marche and I always end up choosing to go there! Maybe I should make more frequent trips to E Nashville…
First I started dropping by after hair appts, but then it turned into us driving across the river on a random Friday night to pick up some to go food when we couldn’t figure out what else we wanted. You know we must really love it because we bypass at least 6 burrito joints w/in 2 miles of our house in order to get there!
We really like that place too. Especially now that we’re a hop-skip-&-jump away across the river. I must admit though I don’t often stray from the Berkely or an occasional sweet potato one (Dixie? I can’t remember), but I’ll have to check out that Gulf Coaster!
PS. Are you on their email list? They send out info on secret burrito combos, and also specials & events.
Yep, I’m on the email list. I don’t think I’ve tried the sweet potato one. The last 5 times I’ve been I’ve had to order the 90210…I just adore it so much! I usually get 3 things for the 2 of us to split so we can get multiple flavors and then have lots of leftovers!
The sweet potato was good, but not as good as the Berkely. I think I just didn’t like the bacon flavor (OMG TAKE AWAY MY FOODIE CARD). Or maybe it was the coleslaw. Nathan most often gets the Ozark, and always a side of queso. And the 90210 has often appealed to me, but I’ve yet to get it!
I sampled the bloomy rind last Friday at the NFM! Don’t remember their names but it was tasty!!!
Love Nuvo Burrito! The Gulf Coaster is my favorite!

Great minds think alike ;-)
Wish we were closer for all these yummy recommendations! I’m in St. Louis right now with all of our middle schoolers headed to the Bissell Mansion Theatre Dinner for a meal and a mystery…this ought to be fun!
Thanks Beth. I look forward to trying these. East Nashville has much better food than Cool Springs area, and it’s worth the drive.
Food is good- service is “snarly”- there is always a lady in a very bad mood serving customers. I cringe when she is working.
