More Healdsburg Eats & Drinks
When strolling the Healdsburg square the afternoon of our arrival, we noticed a super cute tasting room that wasn’t there on my last visit. It was too late to stop in because we needed to get ready for our dinner reservations at Cyrus, so we made note to drop by before leaving town the next day. So that morning, after Flying Goat coffee, a nice brisk walk, showers, and a bit of shopping, we headed that way, expecting to spend just a few minutes there before grabbing some lunch and heading to Napa. Ha.
Between the extraordinary wines, the remarkable service and pleasant conversation with our hosts, and the fact that we had the whole place to ourselves, that few minutes turned into more than an hour. Maybe even two?? Time definitely flies when you’re having fun.
Boisset Taste of Terroir tasting salon is one of the best tasting rooms I’ve ever encountered. As you can see from the photo above, it’s absolutely gorgeous. But let me make this clear- that is not why I loved it so much. Sure, the decor is definitely what first attracted me and got me in the door, but the wines are what blew me away. As Jessie, our sweet server, poured one after another, I was beside myself. How could they all be this good?

Perhaps it was because they offer a more diverse range of flights and tasting experiences than other tasting rooms I’ve been to in the area. You see, Boisset is a family-owned collection of estate wineries that reach far beyond California’s Russian River Valley & Napa Valley, into France! Burgundy, Beaujolais, the Rhône Valley, and the South of France are home to many of their wineries. Apparently I have a soft spot for French wines but never realized it because I bought more wine here than at any other stop on the entire trip! Hmmm, honey, our anniversary is coming up and I’ve heard the South of France is beautiful this time of year…..

Remember that spectacular service and pleasant conversation I mentioned? Well, it was all because of these two cuties– our hosts, Julian and Jessie. Thanks guys!

After consuming all that wine, we really needed to get some food in our bellies, so we headed to Oakville Grocery just down the street. I’d gone here for lunch before, and enjoyed not only the meal, but also the free samples inside the store! While we waited for our sandwiches and pizza, we taste tested and, of course, purchased goodies to take back home with us. My finds were a Blue Cheese Dijon Mustard and Balsamic Pomegranate Grill Sauce. Yum!

Since we only had one night in Healdsburg on this trip, we didn’t have time to visit Barndiva, one of the restaurants my husband and I enjoyed on our last visit. If you’re lucky enough to have a longer stay in town, then definitely drop by for dinner and/or a drink! Their cocktails are super tasty, and will really hit the spot after a full day of wine tasting. I still remember how happy I was to drink something other than wine each evening!
