Nashville Originals Restaurant Week 2012
The menus are up and it’s time to start planning — next week is Nashville Originals Restaurant Week! From January 16th through the 22nd, you can dine at a number of amazing, locally-owned restaurants for value deals that you won’t find any other time of the year.
Within 5 minutes of looking over menus, I booked a reservation at Sunset Grill.
How was my first dining decision so easy? Remember that “25 Things I Must Eat in Nashville in 2012” list I started last week? Well, their menu contains one of the first items on my list- their famous bread pudding. There was no way I was going to pass up this opportunity. It didn’t hurt that all of the other courses sound incredible too. I’ve already plotted out my order and can hardly wait for next week to get here!
Starter: “Beet & Heat Salad”: Golden beets, wild baby arugula, shaved fennel, TN goat cheese, orange segments & candied pecans tossed in tabasco-honey vinaigrette
Entree: Coca-Cola BBQ Beef Short Rib served with sweet potato Johnny cakes, Benton’s bacon collard greens, Farmer Dave’s apple butter & tobacco onions
and then, of course….
Dessert: Butterscotch-Habanero Bread Pudding covered in white chocolate sauce
So what else is on my agenda for the week?
I really have my heart set on gathering a group of friends for Mama Myint’s “House Salad” at Cha Chah. This is a very special offering indeed. If you’ve never heard about this salad, you should check out this article by Carrington Fox. I’ve been dying to try it for what seems like AGES, so this could be the perfect opportunity.
Others on my radar: Watermark, Holland House, Fido and Yellow Porch. It’s so hard to choose! Some I’ve visited during past restaurant weeks (remember this pork chop? yum!), or go to on a regular basis already. Others I don’t get to often enough, so this is a good push. Ah, decisions, decisions.
So where will you go? Have any of you already made reservations? If so, I’d love to hear what menus grabbed your attention. For those of you that haven’t yet started planning, you better get on it before others like me grab up all the open reservations!

I’m going to Sunset as well! The Holland House menu really grabbed my attention, because I always seem to think of it as a just a bar, when in reality that menu has been really well thought out.
Mama Myint’s Salad is unbelievable! I was planning on going with Tabitha – but I had it once last year and it lives up to the hype! Tiffany Derry even put it on her menu at PrivateSocial.
I haven’t been to Tayst in a while, so I’m thinking about going there!
I too thought Sunset’s menu looked great!
Not sure where, or how many places we’ll end up, but I’d like to go to Fido. I might not even try something new, I might just order the Green Chili Mac & Cheese again!
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I really want to try DrinkHaus’s Toasted Marshmallow Cocoa on Monday!
yay! i’m officially set for holland house and yellow porch. very excited!
Beth,
Thanks for all the inspiration! My husband and I have been slowly ticking Nashville restaurants off our list since we moved here, but this is really kicking us into high gear. We’re headed to Midtown Cafe, Flyte and Sunset Grill next week. Hoping to convince the girlfriends to go check out another spot as well.
Thanks a million for your blog!
I’ve sent a link to your blog to my dear husband. Date night and birthday are coming up, you know! Thanks, Beth!
Just got our reservations in for Holland House & Tayst – two places we’ve never been. So excited! And you are going to love that Bread Pudding at Sunset Grill :)
Hoping to check out Yellow Porch this time around – the menu looks amazing, and sadly despite almost 10 years in Nashville, we still havent made it over there! Time to check it off the list
We are heading to Holland House…can’t wait to actually EAT there….Germantown Cafe for a friend’s birthday and lunch at Fido. I may pop in Provence for a $2 soup too! Sunsets menu looks awesome but I think we are maxed out for the week at this point. I hope they keep that chicken & biscuit on the menu for a while so I can try it. Yum
We are doing dinners Table 3 and Sunset. I was hoping to get to Germantown for lunch one day, but I see they are only offering dinner for RW. :(

Holland House! Looks very interesting and the dishes will be chosen by whatever I’m in the mood for. Can’t wait to try a place new to me with old girlfriends! YUM!
