Reality has set in. The countdown is really on.

In approximately 4 weeks or less, I will be giving birth to a BABY. Wow. It’s hard to believe that I’m going to be a Mommy.

While I’m completely and utterly excited, I’m also feeling a bit overwhelmed. Thankfully I have lots of wonderful friends and family that are here to help me out. A few of those amazing friends threw a baby shower for me this weekend and I have to say, it was THE best baby shower ever! (I’m not biased at all) ;-)

Inspired by an image I have on my Baby Stuff Pinterest board, my friend Libby, an insanely talented designer from Chicago, created the invitations for the shower, as well as came up with the “look” of the event. I think you can probably figure out by the photos what the theme was….

The party was held at my friend Amanda’s beautiful home, and the girls truly outdid themselves. The food was incredible and plentiful. In fact, I’m still happily eating leftovers 3 days later!

The Menu:

Mini Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches
Black Bean & Avocado Boats
Roast Beef, Roasted Red Pepper and Pimento Cheese Baguettes
Prosciutto Wrapped Melon
Scrumptious Meatballs
Apples with Blue Cheese & Cashew Spread
Artichoke Salad
Tomato, Mozzarella, and Spinach Skewers
Bird’s Nests (aka haystacks)
Rum Cake

Beverages:
Cucumber Infused Water
Cranberry Lime Sparkling Punch
Rose
White Wine

The hostesses with the mostesses: My friends Sherri, Charmaine, Lisa, Libby and Amanda

I loved every little detail. I mean, really, how could I not? It was so ME.

There was even a little guessing game for the guests: Will it be a Boy or a Girl?  What day and time will the little one arrive?

The person whose prediction is the closest to accurate will be one of the first people we call when Baby makes his/her appearance into the world!

Lately I haven’t been able to get out and be quite as social as is typical for me, so I’ve been feeling quite desperate for some quality girl time. Having all of my favorite girls in one place at one time was completely awesome.

Some I hadn’t seen in months, and others even years! My best college girlfriends came from long distances: Kandace from D.C., Natalie from Kentucky, and as I mentioned, Libby from Chicago. The last time all three of us were together was my wedding in 2008!

Me with my 3 best girlfriends from college: Kandace, Natalie and Libby

The shower ended on a sweet note with these cake pops for guests to pick up as they exited the party. I didn’t actually eat mine until the next day and holy schmoly! They were so good! Yes, I said “they”. Because I ate two. And then one more yesterday.

They are dangerous to have around the house, so I suggest you only buy them for special occasions. Where to find?  Party Pops by Julie right here in Nashville.

Any of you guys want to take a guess at when Baby Eats will arrive and if our future will be a sea of pink or blue?!?

I agree, best shower ever! I must admit, had I known what I know now, I would have guessed an earlier delivery than just 2 days (what I think I wrote). ;) As for those cake pops, Amanda insisted we take two, so of COURSE I did. YUM! Thanks for inviting me!

I won’t say *who* but I did get a few text reports from the shower to tell me how lovely it was. There may have been some kitchen envy going on, too. It’s a wonderful way to get you mentally prepared for the big day!

I delivered two weeks after the first shower and two weeks before another, so…. :)

    • Beth replied: — January 18th, 2012 @ 10:45 am

Yes, Amanda’s kitchen has given me plenty of kitchen envy as well!

Oh my goodness, your shower was beautiful! I love the color scheme – it’s so incredibly sophisticated. And that bird wreath is gorgeous! You look radiant Beth – I hope you enjoy your last few weeks of pregnancy!

    • Beth replied: — January 18th, 2012 @ 8:16 pm

The nursery is that same color scheme! Thanks so much for your sweet comments!

OK, so I didn’t get my shot at guessing Baby’s arrival date, girl/boy, or time of day! All the little notes were taken when I finally got around to it. So here’s my guess – it better count! Because I think I’ll be spot on :)

    Date: Jan 31st
Boy (Although I’ve kind of changed my mind that it will be a girl , but I have to stick with my original guess!)
    Time 8:32 AM

I loved being a part of your shower. It was a blast! And I loved meeting all of your college friends. We had a great time sipping on the Chook Sparkling Shiraz you gave me for my Bday after the shower. I love that bottle! Gonna have to order more :) I will be over soon to keep you company while you’re resting! Love you, A

DUDE! I didn’t even know you were preggers! *bad blog reader hangs head in shane*

    Belated congrats!

And is it totally inappropriate to say, “Holy cow, your rack is huge!” Yes? Ok, sorry.

    • Beth replied: — January 19th, 2012 @ 9:46 am

Maybe a tad inappropriate to some, but doesn’t bother me, and it’s TRUE! ;-)

Cute theme and carried out so well! I love the idea to stalk a friend’s Pinterest for ideas – I may just do that for a friend’s engagement party in April. Best of luck in your last few weeks!

What an sweet party! I am so glad we got to visit last week for a little bit before baby Otto comes! I would like to wager a guess too, just for fun. I think it’s a boy (i have always thought so) and I am guessing an arrival date of February 6. And since someone else said it so will I – your rack is huge and you look great as always! :)
    We can’t wait for updates!

    • Beth replied: — January 19th, 2012 @ 2:49 pm

      Oh lord, Otto….NOT!

You may be very close with your prediction. I don’t think it’s going to be late February, that is for sure!

Beth, what an awesome baby shower…thx for sharing. Enjoy these last few weeks, even though you feel ‘huge’, it is the last time to get complete ‘me’ time for a number of years!!

    Beth,
You look so beautiful! How fun to see the picture of the cute Chi Omegas. You all look so great! Libby is as artistic as ever….so talented!
I am so thrilled you are going to be a Mom! It is the most fun I have ever had. My big tip is keep a little journal and try to write a sentence or two each day. I have done this since Claire was born and it is so fun to look back at how much she changed. It is also handy to help keep track of dates when teeth come in, first steps, etc. It is so easy to let the “firsts” slip by and the baby book becomes a chore instead of fun. Just a little tip form one ChiO Mom to another :)
Good luck and most of all have fun!

Where can I find the recipes?? I’m doing a baby boy shower for my daughter-in-love, with a woodland baby animal theme, and I’d LOVE to incorporate some of these healthy dishes! They’re vegan/vegetarian.
    Thanks!
