Tweet Me Right! M Street
Virago Sake Patio
Last year I started a little series called “Tweet Me Right!”, where I recognized local businesses that impressed me with their Twitter skills. Tweeting a special of the day isn’t what gets my attention. Communication is key. I look for Twitter accounts that are interacting with their customers, creating dialogue, and thanking them for their business.
It has actually been quite a long time since I’ve done one of these spotlights, but recently someone in particular has really stood out from the rest of the pack of Nashville tweeters, and I felt compelled to do one again.
Tavern Upper Patio
This recognition is a little different than others I’ve done, because I’m not just focusing on one restaurant, but instead an entire group of restaurants – M Street. The M Street Group is made up of Tavern, Virago, Whiskey Kitchen and Kayne Prime. I follow them all on Twitter, so I get to eavesdrop on many a conversation between them and their patrons, and I like what I see.
While the tweeting aspect is the main reason for this shout-out, it’s not the only one. Every part of the business comes into play – food, service, ambiance. I can honestly say that all of my most recent experiences at each of these places has been spot on. Need a reminder of some of the fantastic food I’ve had at each? Just look here for Whiskey Kitchen, here for Virago, here for Tavern and here for Kayne Prime.
Whiskey Kitchen
There are a couple of things in particular that I’d like to point out in addition to those posts. First, the Chef’s Menu at Virago. While most of you know that the sushi is some of the best in the city, you may not often try some of the other amazing offerings. That’s a mistake. The next time you’re there, venture off that sushi menu and try something new. I bet you won’t be disappointed.
Next, let’s talk about Kayne Prime. Yes, it’s a steakhouse. To be completely honest, up until now, steakhouses are pretty much my last choice when dining out. I’m an adventurous eater and have never really understood the allure of eating something I could easily make at home. But my attitude has now changed and it’s completely thanks to Kayne Prime.
This is no typical steakhouse. The menu is inventive, creative, and even vegetarians can leave feeling not only satisfied, but happy. In fact, last week when I was craving vegetables and had a dinner date with a non-meat eating friend, the first place I thought to go was Kayne Prime. Sound weird? Maybe a bit, but we feasted on an array of incredible (very large) side dishes, and even had enough left over to take home for another meal.
Kayne Prime Union Room
Now to the very best part of this post. Reinforcing my opinion of their awesomeness, the M Street group has happily offered up three $25 gift cards for me to give away to my readers! One card will be for Tavern, one for Virago, and the other for Kayne Prime. All you have to do to enter is this:
Mandatory for Entry: Leave a comment below telling me which of the M Street restaurants is your favorite and why. Never been to any of them? Then which one do you most want to try?
Increase your chances to win with these additional entries. Note- you must leave a separate comment:
- On Twitter, follow one of the M Street group restaurants that you don’t already follow: @viragonashville, @tavernnashville, @kayneprime, or @whiskeykitchen and tweet the following: Win a $25 gift card for one of Nashville’s best restaurants from @betheats! http://bit.ly/rbCK4p Then come back here and tell me you tweeted, along with your twitter handle.
- “Like” Kayne Prime on Facebook, then come back here and tell me you liked them, leaving your first name and last initial so it can be verified. (KP is the newest of the bunch, so we need to show it some love!)
Contest ends on Monday, August 22nd at NOON CST. Once the winners are chosen, I’ll contact them via email and will post it here on the blog. If any of the winners don’t respond within 48 hours, I’ll be forced to choose others, so make sure you check your email!

I’m pretty new to the Nashville area, so I haven’t had the opportunity to try any of the M Street restaurants, but I have really been wanting to check out Whiskey Kitchen. I’ve heard the atmosphere for young people is great!
That’s a tough choice — but my favorite is Virago — I’ve loved going there since I first moved here in 2005. Amazing sushi!
I’ve only been to Whiskey Kitchen, but would love to try Tavern!
Sad to admit I’ve *only* tried Tavern, but it was delicious. I still think about those sweet potato chips. A gift certificate would be the perfect way to get me to try the others! :)
I love Tavern’s drinks and Virago’s sushi. I want to go to Kayne Prime. It looks incredible!
KP is awesome David. It is seriously moving up the ranks to one of my top Nashville restaurants!

liked KP – David H.
We’ve had planned to go to Whiskey Kitchen and Virago a few times but never actually made it there. Hubby and I need a date night – this would be perfect!
I love WK, but it can get very crowded, so I suggest either going early or really late. Virago would be wonderful for date night dinner, and since WK is right across the street, you could either start or end there for a cocktail!
i frequent tavern more than i care to admit. but i’ve been craving sushi lately!
i ‘liked’ kayne prime on fb. laurel d.
i tweeted.

I’ve been to Whiskey Kitchen & Tavern so far, and I LOVE Whiskey Kitchen. Apparently other people do too because it’s hard for us to get in there now.
Now following Virago on Twitter and tweeted the message (@kmays).
Annnd liked Kayne Prime on FB (Kira S).
I’ve always been a fan of Virago–love that cheese plate. I hate that it’s not on the menu any more, but glad to hear I can still order it!
I love that cheese plate too. I had a birthday party at Virago a few years ago, and ordered a few of them for the group and people raved about it all night long. Yum, now you’ve got me craving cheese at 9 a.m.!
To choose between Tavern & Whiskey Kitchen is almost painful, but if forced, I’d have to pick Tavern. It’s my latest restaurant obsession. The food is outstanding and the service even better!
Agree Leah! I’m so impressed with the service every time I go, and I haven’t eaten a bad thing yet!
I can’t believe I wasn’t following Tavern already on Twitter – a group of friends tried out their brunch two weekends ago and I was BLOWN AWAY. I’m very picky about breakfast/brunch (other favorites: Mad Donna’s and Pfunky Griddle) and this has now joined my “Top Five” favorites. The stir-fry is killer (apparently a Hawaiian specialty?) and although I didn’t get to try the red velvet waffle, that’s next on my list! (www.twitter.com/elizabethelmore).
I also went and “liked” KP on FB. Love to see others raving about the mushrooms and pepperoni side dish. I swear you’re going to find me at the bar having a cocktail and munching on those one of these days…
I’m picky when it comes to brunch too, so I’m ecstatic about Tavern’s!
I tweeted and I follow all 4 of them on Twitter! @SoHowsItTaste

I like KP on FB! Leah S.
I think my favorite is Tavern right now. It’s been years since I went to Virago, and haven’t managed to get in Whiskey Kitchen because it was packed one night. And haven’t ever been to Kayne Prime. But have been to Tavern twice in the past month and it was really good!
I followed @kayneprime because it was the only one I hadn’t followed yet. And just tweeted. https://twitter.com/#!/sallaboutme/status/104197140053626880
I just liked Kayne Prime on Facebook too. Kelly R.
I’ve been hankering to go to Kayne Prime but at the moment, Tavern’s still my favorite – good sized portions, good selection and just a nice ambience.
I’ve been wanting to take my husband to Whiskey Kitchen and his birthday is in just a few weeks! Neither of us have ever been.
Following @tavernnashville
Thought I was before but apparently not!
I liked Kayne Prime. Twice! Once as me (TOT) and once as Life a la Mode.
my favorite is tavern because i am obsessed with their kale salad. i heard kayne has it too, so ive been wanting to try them.
They do!! It’s slightly different– KP’s has pine nuts whereas Tavern’s has almonds, but both are simply divine. That salad is one of the main reasons I chose to go to KP recently. That and the corn brulee!
I’m a follower! Kayne Prime is my favorite and my husband and I are going this weekend to celebrate our one year anniversary! Best steak in town :)
I tweeted and follow all the M street restaurants!
I “like” Kayne Prime on Facebook (Jocelyn C.)! Love your blog girl — been voting for you for Best of Nashville — local blog :)
Ah, you’re so sweet! Thanks Jocelyn!
I went to Virago for the first time on my birthday in July and ordered per your recommendations from your birthday dinner. AMAZING. Even my non-sushi loving husband cannot stop talking about The Bomb.
Oh, I LOVE hearing that! So glad you enjoyed :-)
Whiskey Kitchen has become our go-to place for staff lunches. We love it. Of course I love their nachos.
Haven’t yet been to Kayne Prime, but keep hearing about the corn. Wonder if they have highchairs & a kids’ menu? Kidding – but it’s on the date night short list!
i tweeted! @loveandnachos
i like KP. Amanda S. (this sounds like a middle school love note.)
I love all of them, such different scenes….virago is probably my fav!
It’s so hard to choose – but Whiskey Kitchen is my favorite for after-work drinks and apps. Tavern is a close second.
I haven’t been to any of these restaurants except Virago, which is fabulous. I’d love to go back or try Whiskey Kitchen
Whiskey Kitchen – def favorite!
Easy to answer this one…..we have recently discovered the amazing Wednedsay happy hour at Tavern and have been two weeks in a row! 2-4-1 cocktails from 2pm — 10pm? Nuts. And the food is great and affordable. Atmosphere…..location, and our server Jennifer was perfect yesterday. It will be in our regular rotation for sure.
Tweeted! :-)
I haven’t made it to any of them yet, though I did try to go to Whiskey Kitchen once. We didn’t plan well and had to leave for a show before a table opened up.
virago might be my favorite, since i have the longest history with it — i’ve been going there for years + it’s always been amazing. i do want to try kayne prime soon, though, especially because that’s where my now-husband + i first met 5+ years ago, when it was still radius-10. =)
Tavern is probably my favorite right now. Whiskey Kitchen is great on Sunday afternoons when they aren’t busy. I’ve only been to Virago for drinks on the rooftop patio but want to eat there and at KP soon.
I’ve never been to any, but I’ve heard Whisky Kitchen is great! Also wanted to try Kanye Prime!
I followed/tweeted on Twitter!
I “liked” on Facebook–Ashlee G. :)
I really love the food at whiskey kitchen, but I believe my favorite is Virago. I haven’t been to the new location, so would love to win a gift certificate and go check out what I’m sure is a fabulous new space!
