Nashville Scene Best of 2010 and other happy things!
Wow, I’m seriously thinking I should stock up on lottery tickets right now because I’m having some good luck at the moment.
First it was the Nashville Lifestyles’ 25 Most Beautiful thing, and then last night I found out that my blog was voted Best Food Blog in the Nashville Scene reader’s poll! Thanks to all of you that voted, because this one I couldn’t have done without you! Seriously, my deepest gratitude goes out to you because it warms my heart to know that you’re not only reading, but you’re enjoying. It makes my lack of sleep and constant battle with my love handles totally worth it ;-)
The Scene didn’t invite me to the big announcement party last night, so I found out that I won via text messages from a few people that were at the party. Strange, because I always assumed the winners got invited. Apparently not. My friend Kathleen (The Bloomy Rind) actually asked me to go with her because she did get an invitation, but I turned her down because my calendar is jam packed this week. Turns out that was a dumb decision. I could have been there celebrating with her as she won an award too! Oh well, I’ve learned my lesson: Never turn down an invitation to a good party because it might end up being a great party.
So what is keeping me busy these days? Well, tonight I’m kicking off the weekend early by attending the Mondavi Wine Dinner with my hubby, where we’ll feast on the newest Morton’s cuisine and sample fabulous wines. This enjoyable evening may be the only time I have to relax for the next few days…
Although I have the day off work tomorrow, I have a “to do” list a mile long. Picking up cupcakes from The Cupcake Collection is just one of the many things I need to take care of as I run around town preparing for a weekend of celebrations for my friend Leslie who is turning 40 and moving to Brazil!! As I type this, friends from NYC, L.A., and Denver are packing their bags to head this way, so we can party with Leslie & bid her farewell. The festivities will start with nibbles and cocktails on Suzy Wong’s patio tomorrow night, and continue through Saturday, when we have the official bash. Of course I’m preparing food for the party, so most of my day Saturday will be spent in the kitchen prepping. No complaints here, I love this kind of stuff!
Although I am bummed to be missing a couple of great events going on around town, I’m hoping that some of you are planning to attend and will let me know how much fun you have! Anyone have plans for either of these??

Congratulations on best of scene award! One of my must-reads every day.
Hey Beth!
I didn’t get invited either — My blog got 3rd best local, and my husband got best local visual artist! so fun. We showed up at 9 (when we found out) and they let us in. But all the good stuff was mostly gone by then.
xo
congrats!!
Blair, congrats!! I am just now reading through all of the others and see that you and David won as well. Wish that we could have all been there to celebrate together!
Congrats, Beth! You so deserve it! I love reading your blog!
Congratulations, Beth!
Congrats again Beth. I am disappointed to know that not all the winners were invited to the party. That certainly is a shame and something you should consider organizing yourself next year!! The Scene can do their thing and the rest of Nashville’s Best can celebrate together. Plugging your blog today on mine. Hope you have a terrific weekend. Dance like world peace depends on it. I always do!
Thanks Carol! Unfortunately, there wouldn’t be a way to pre-plan a party for the winners that weren’t invited, because we didn’t even know we were winners! I still have yet to get any sort of communication from The Scene regarding it. The only way I knew were texts from friends that had seen it in hard print!
Thanks for the flattering words on your blog too! You are so sweet!! Keep savoring the beautiful things in life :-)
interesting, thanks
