Are You Ready To Rumba?
Really, truly, I’ve been eating here for years and think the food has only gotten better over time. The menu is creative, diverse, and in my opinion, exciting! And guess what? It’s also reasonably priced. I took my San Diego friend there recently when she was in town and she was blown away by not only the quality, but also the quantity of food we got to eat for so little money.
grilled south african peppers, goat cheese and chorizo
Don’t let their small size deceive you. They pack a punch when it comes to flavor!
Fried Artichoke
tandoori seasoning, panko breading, hummus, romesco, proscuitto chips
Sorry, I didn’t get a photo of this one. I’ve actually only had it once, on my most recent visit, but I was knocked out! Yum. Yum. YUM.
Slap me. De-freakin’-licious. Pretty much can’t go there any more without ordering at least one of these.
.
Pork Confit Tacos
manchego cheese, flour tortillas, pebre sauce
Pork confit. Enough said.
.
Chicken Satay
with trio of dipping sauces: Spicy Peanut, Chimichurri, and Hot & Sour
This is another standard at my table, but I sometimes like to mix it up and get shrimp, or a mixture of shrimp, steak and chicken. The sauces are so good that I could drink them.
Chickpea Fritters
ground garbanzos, hot pepper jelly
These are listed in the “minis” part of the menu and are only $4 for an entire plate!
Some other items that are definitely worth mentioning: Caribbean Nachos, Shrimp Masala, Jamaican Jerk Pork, and Grilled Corn Salad. If you can’t find something you like out of all these dishes, then something is wrong with you. Sorry, but it’s true.
Pacific Pearl
Pearl Vodka- Ginger Lemonade – Mint
Orchid Fizz
Bombay Sapphire-Lychee Liqueur -Black Tea Syrup -Fig Bitters
But then of course on Sundays I order wine. Not because it’s the Sabbath and that’s what you’re required to do. No silly, because all bottles are 1/2 price!! Yep, you got it. Every bottle on the menu is offered up at this huge discount, so you better believe I’m taking advantage of it and you should be too!

Shhh! Rumba is MY secret place!
Hehe….I know!
Hey, what's in Charles' Cumberland Side Car again? I have some Four Roses bourbon leftover from the tasting I did, and want to try to make them at home this weekend.
I haven't ever been to Rumba! I don't know how that 's possible? I always see it when I'm going to Starbucks… lol I definitely need to get there!!!
I have recently rediscovered Rumba! I've mostly been there for drinks because it's a block from my office. I love the Whiskey Thai drink. Kind of like a combination of a mojito and a mint julep.
Also, thanks to Erin, I learned about the Cumberland Sidecar. Oh, it's so yummy! I always ask for Charles, then promptly order one!
I bought the groupon for Rumba not too long ago. My friend and I are going to check it out next week. I'll be ordering some of these delicious suggestions!
Mandy- I really don't know how that's possible either!! Get your booty over there! When I'm being really good & healthy, I just order the satay and a side of the couve (flash cooked kale). So there are definitely things on the menu that are better for you than others~
Leah- I bought 2 Groupons! I used one last week when I went w friends for 1/2 price wine Sunday :-)
I've never been, but that description of the fried artichoke makes it sound like it should be part of my life.
this looks great!! i love rumba!
FYI – if you have the yowza app (on the iphone) you can get 2 for 1 drinks, 1/2 of wine, or 20% off your bill monday-thursday!
I was a regular at Rumba for several years before Baby Eats came along and I really need to go back. They have such wonderful cocktails and great small plates to go along with them.
Your blog should come with a warning! The pictures make me want to go out and eat for weeks. Keep posting, great blog.
